Child Protection Officer-Case Management


Background:

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) coordinates the provision of services across a broad spectrum of sectors in Kigoma Region, Tanzania.  This position is responsible for conducting BID documentation and assistance with the Child Protection activities in Nyarugusu refugee camp in Kasulu District. This position reports to the Child Protection Manager (CPM) and supervises 2 refugee incentive staff.
IRC seeks to recruit qualified, energetic and committed candidates to fill the following position:
Position:           Child Protection Officer-Case Management
Supervisor:      Child Protection Supervisor
Location:           Nyarugusu Refugee Camp

Specific duties:
·         Record all reported needs of children; open cases for those in need of case management support.
·         Assess, follow up, review and close all cases in line with International Standards and guidelines; use established case planning tools to do so.
·         Support social workers in delivering affective services to children.
·         Conduct interviews and follow-up for Best Interest Determination form completion in collaboration with the CPC-S, ensuring quality outputs.
·         Support UNHCR during the repatriation of SCs and UAMs.
·         Carry out verification of separated children, unaccompanied minors, and other most vulnerable children.
·         Facilitate family reunification and fostering of unaccompanied minors.

Requirements:
·         Diploma in social work or relevant social science with at least 1 years relevant work experience; OR at least 3 years relevant work experience.
·         Experience working with children, and especially vulnerable children desirable
·         Basic IT skills: knowledge of MS Word; Excel and Outlook required
·         Swahili and English skills required.  French a plus.
