DATA PROJECT MANAGER - TIGO TANZANIA

  
JOB PURPOSE
Responsible for leading data quality initiatives for mobile business unit and provide inputs to the technical plans as per the internal guidelines. This includes, planning for resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects accordingly.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide network perspective and visibility for mobile business unit during the process of designing products and give inputs to the technical team
• Create a template and scoring system to monitor various commercial network quality indices and track the network score card on a daily basis
• Create initiatives to better monitor High Value sites and lead optimization efforts from a commercial perspective
• Map all commercial requirements into technical activities and monitor the effective execution of such initiatives
• Provide support for 4G/LTE products on need basis
• Create project charters for all data related projects assigned to him/her in coordination with all stakeholders
• Assist in providing planning input such as traffic projections and capacity requirements of various platforms and requirements of expected users.
• Clearly communicate tasks  and expected deliverables to team members and stakeholders
• Represent the commercial team in discussions with external and internal technical stakeholders
• Develop and create project plan through Microsoft Projects professional and track their KPI through Enterprise Project Management tool (EPM)
• Lead project meetings, conference calls, and other communications, both internal and external, including weekly update calls and high-level project management committee meetings.
• Ensure and conduct unit testing, integrate testing, stress testing and user acceptance testing.
• Effectively manage project scope by ensuring any changes to scope are documented and approved by pertinent staff with appropriate documentation system
• Coordinate budget documentation to all projects assigned to him/her
• Resolve any issues and solve problems throughout project life cycle
• Develop tools and best practices for project management and execution
• Monitor project expenditures against proposed budget and schedule/deliverables
Position Requirements

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
• University degree in Telecommunication Engineering. Project Management Degree is a plus
• PMP Certification is a plus

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
• At least 2 - years’ experience in Project Management (or commercial experience, 7+ years in telecoms, with a strong interest in the commercial side of the business

CORE KNOWLEDGE & COMPETENCIES
• Microsoft Project and other Project Management tools (i.e. EPM) (Intermediate level required)
• Communication and people skills: experience in managing small teams and good communication both downwards and upwards within the organization (Advanced level required)
• Quality Assurance: experience in designing test plans of products  (Basic level required)
• Financial modeling: good understanding of modeling of costs and revenues associated to offers, and comparison of the target groups with control groups (Intermediate level required)
• Mobile telecoms: good understanding of the mobile business, the main products and services, revenue streams, tariffs and offers, etc. (Intermediate level required)
• Positive and proactive attitude
• Problem solving
• English and Swahili (fluent both written and spoken)
