BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR POSITION

 
Recruitment of Business Development Coordinator for the Wildlife Conservation Society Ruaha-Katavi Landscape Program

The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) saves wildlife and wild places worldwide through science, conservation action, education and inspiring people to value nature.

WCS is an equal opportunity employer and seeks a Business Development Coordinator for its Ruaha-Katavi Landscape Program, based in Iringa. This position is supported by the USAID-WCS Cooperative Agreement for the Southern Highlands and Ruaha-Katavi Protection Program (SHARPP).

Essential candidate attributes
Tanzanian preferred
MSc minimum in business development related disciplines;
At least 5 years working at field level in the field of community-based business development with experience working with recognized community/development partners. Experience from the Ruaha-Katavi landscape an advantage;
Working familiarity with the WMA concept and its application;
Deep understanding and experience in conservation-linked community-based business development approaches, drawing on experiences across Africa and beyond;
Excellent communication, reporting, planning skills
A very high level of integrity, honesty and sense of responsibility;
Fluency in spoken and written English and Swahili;
Ability to work under pressure- independently and as part of a dynamic team;
Valid driving license and extensive 4WD experience;
IT literate and familiar with various reporting and statistical software packages.

Overview of main terms of reference
Facilitate engagement with other experts in the field of community-based conservation business development as needed;
Draw on lessons learned from other WMA’s in Tanzania, and similar approaches in other parts of Africa in particular, to guide the development of strategies to promote the engagement of wide sections of target communities (with a special focus on the 4 target WMA areas) in conservation-based / PES business development- ensuring a bottom up approach in terms of engagement and implementation;
Lead the development of business plans for each target WMA area;
Lead capacity needs assessments amongst target communities to identify essential skill areas that need to be further developed;
Draw up and implement training programs to improve capacity building in relevant areas;
Particularly promote the engagement of women, youth and those involved with the EU-supported cultural heritage promotion program;
Liaise with the Authorized Association Consortium (AAC) to promote their involvement in capacity building etc

Remuneration:
A competitive remuneration package will be offered to the successful candidate.
